![]() They also laid off a ton of Evernote employees right out of the gate in a somewhat disjointed fashion. My gut tells me this company is sketchy and something awful is coming down the line. I think there's been one letter from the CEO that says "I love Evernote, this should be fun, stay tuned" and that's been about it. They've also been really bad at communicating with customers. In the case of their video app, it looks like it'll let you edit a movie but you'll be unable to export unless you pay. I mean, that's not bad.Ĭons - If you look up Bending Spoons online they don't always get great reviews and their methods seem to involve buying apps and charging insane weekly fees to use them. As a result, I went in and cancelled auto-renew on my sub, at which point it gave me a 40% discount for my renewal coming in June. Oh, and the Obsidian Mobile app isn't really designed to be a catch-all files and info kinda deal IMO. Remember, it's my "stuff goes here in case" area. Yeah, it's nice, but it won't do the job in this particular case. So while I agree Obsidian is awesome, it's like people saying "you should stop going on family vacations in your minivan, they're so old school", while trying to sell you a Porsche. Yeah there's a plug in for that - there's a plug in for everything, that's part of the issue at times. Attachments that don't get deleted when you delete your note. No web clipper, no OCR, and it stores attachments separate from notes in behind the scenes. ![]() I use Obsidian for keeping track of my thoughts and goals, but it just doesn't work as a replacement for Evernote. People say "well why don't you switch to Obsidian or Noteplan". I can email into it, clip from the web into it, it has OCR, it saves any kind of attachment I throw at it, it has a large community around it, I understand the interface 100% (and I like it), it has tags AND folders, I can markup things with their built in markup tools, and arguably I guess - it looks good while doing it. It's my "stuff goes here in case I need it" app. Pros - Evernote does what no other app does. I'm torn at the moment between running for the hills as fast as I can away from the app and staying the course to see where it lands - but I can't decide. I've been with Evernote for quite some time now.
